Molecular Biosciences
The Department of Molecular Bioscience (MBS) is a premier department at the Unviersity of South Florida (百媚导航) undertaking biomedical research and teaching.
We are located in the Interdisciplinary Sciences (ISA) and Biosciences (BSF) buildings at the 百媚导航 in Tampa, Florida, where we are home to approximately 35 full-time faculty members, over 70 graduate students, and offers courses to approximately 1200 undergraduate students.
Through strategic hiring, research grant funding, and publications, MBS pursues excellence in the following programmatic research areas:
Teaching
The department offers curricula leading to Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Microbiology, Master of Science degrees in Biology and Microbiology, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. Our courses are designed to meet the needs of students majoring in both science and non-science disciplines.
Uniquely, we provide biomedical research opportunities for our undergraduate and graduate students, enhancing their resum茅s and preparing them for future careers.
Research
Supported by millions of dollars in external funding, our faculty and students pursue scientific knowledge through rigorous research programs. The insights gained from these studies are shared through publications, oral and poster presentations, and classroom activities. We view our research as an integral part of our teaching mission, allowing students to fully grasp the challenges and methodologies of biomedical sciences, with an emphasis on cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, and other specialized disciplines.
In addition to numerous local collaborations, MBS partners nationally with MIT, Vanderbilt University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Emory University, NYU, Howard University, the University of Minnesota, Northwestern University, and the University of California San Diego.
Internationally, we collaborate with world-class institutions, including the Sanger Institute (Cambridge), Imperial College (London), Chung Shan Medical University (Taiwan), the University of Kent at Canterbury, and Jagiellonian University (Krak贸w, Poland).
