°ÙÃĵ¼º½ College of Education Assistant Professor Molly Hamm-Rodriguez has been named a by the Council on Anthropology and Education, a section of the American Anthropological Association. At the annual AAA meeting held last month in Toronto, the CAE awarded five fellowships to support the professional development and mentoring of educational anthropologists early in their academic career. As part of the fellowship, Hamm-Rodriguez will receive early career mentoring from senior scholar Inmaculada García-Sánchez, Professor of Social Research Methodology and Associate Director of the Center for the Study of International Migration at UCLA.

Hamm-Rodríguez is an Assistant Professor of Social Foundations of Education who specializes in anthropology of education, comparative and international education, and race and ethnic studies. Her research explores how language, race, labor and schooling shape the social futures of youth in global school-to-work and college and career readiness programs. She also studies the policy contexts that influence multilingual development in children and the experiences of children and youth as they negotiate learning and their livelihoods within these contexts.

The CAE’s endowed fellowship program honors pioneering anthropologist of education Concha Delgado-Gaitan who, early in her career, distinguished herself as an ethnographer of literacy, linguistic diversity, social justice, and family negotiation of educational systems.
